Celebrating its 23rd anniversary this year, Duchamp has come a long way from its origins in a Parisian Flea market. The brand later launched itself as a London based luxury men’s accessory line and under the direction of Marc Psarolis, in 2011 launched its luxury ready-to wear tailoring line.
Despite the name, the ‘Britishness’ of the brand continues to be one of Duchamp’s greatest strengths. Designed and woven in one of the oldest mills in the UK, Duchamp’s fabrics are deeply embedded in British heritage.
Designer Gianni Colarossi, a Scottish Italian was inspired by his apprenticeship with Italo Di Preta, the president of the Italian Academy of Tailors. Colarossi understands the importance in evolution and bringing science of tailoring to the contemporary man. Quality and detailing are paramount, as you can see with linings and patterns which are exclusive to Duchamp and are made by their in house textile designer, making it even more luxurious.
Duchamp offers a Contemporary fit, which is neither slim nor classic, a style that defines the Duchamp man. Offered in both single and double breasted as well as three piece suits, the SS13 collection allows every man to embrace their inner dandy. Accessories are key to the collection with bow ties, scarfs, pockets squares and bags heavily featured in all its imagery.
The Spring/ Summer 13 collection is the essential wardrobe for the modern man who loves dressing up, and accessorising well. This is achieved through the collections two elements; dressing up and dressing down.
Dressing up; Duchamp is recognised for its luxury tailoring and flamboyant prints and this season is no exception. Print’s come through in floral jacquards and herringbone on shirts and accessories. Key pieces include coloured bow ties, and contrasting pocket squares.
Dressing down; Duchamp has applied their expertise in modern tailoring and casual wear to create a sophisticated and dapper day wardrobe for the modern man. The lavish use of Italian silks and British herringbone within the collection highlight the importance of quality throughout. Key pieces include canvas / leather bags and poka dot patterned scarfs.
Colour and luxury is integral within Duchamp’s DNA. This collection is bursting with electric blue and berry reds which complement the jacquard and herringbone fabrics to create a feel of opulence and the perfect occasion wear.
