Harrods has removed its iconic green canopies to make way for ornate, golden frames showcasing 31 crowns designed exclusively for Harrods by the world’s leading brands in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Drawing on inspiration from Harrods decorations for the Queen’s Coronation in 1953, the Knightsbridge store’s façade is lined with Union Flags and two 50-ft tall regal banners heralding the Queen’s Royal Cypher and St. Edwards Crown.
Harrods employees have also been seen filling the pavement outside the 160-year-old store for a roaring rendition of God Save the Queen and Land of Hope and Glory, whilst waving British flags. Harrods will occasionally broadcast God Save the Queen from the store’s Brompton Road facade throughout the Jubilee celebrations.
